The end of January saw
a solar wind stream hit Earth's magnetic field which has sparked bright auroras around the Arctic Circle.

The auroras form a, not very common, wavy, semi-circle shape over the red outhouses.
These shots were taken by photographer Bjorn Jorgensen who lives in Tromso, Norway, which is in the Arctic Circle.
Although predominantly green, sometimes a purple or deep red colour is created by particles in the solar wind hitting different gases.
The series of pictures was taken near Tromso, as well as the Lofoten Islands in northern Norway.
Bjorn said: "I started photographing the Northern Lights in 2001, just to see if it was at all possible to capture this spectacular phenomenon on camera. "I live north of the Arctic Circle, and am used to see Northern Lights every winter, but I am still fascinated by the beauty in the auroras, and it is a great experience to lie down in the snow and just watch the auroras fly over my head."
